News reports today have brought to light possibly some of the strangest football related news to date, a local council building a new fence that spans through the centre of a set of goalposts in a park in York.
The erection of the new fencing has cost the council £6,000 and was done in order to provide a surrounding for an area that is set to have new playing equipment added but the placement of the outer fence has angered players and locals alike, some claiming that the council have “wasted money” and that their plans are “unreal”.
Following complaints to the council, a spokesman for York City Council revealed that the they realise that they have made a mistake, describing the erection as an “own goal”.
How many contractor would even consider building a fence in this manner has us scratching our head but one thing is for sure, the defensive line definitely has the left post covered….
