Doom and Gloom For England as Cahill Ruled Out, Ferguson Spending Spree Hits Money Problems and RVP Shows He Is Still On Fire

The domestic season is now complete and the champions have been crowned but football fans don’t need to worry, there is a whole new reason that they can get behind the game that they love, the European Championships are about to begin and England are once again featuring!

The hopes and aspirations of the nation rest on the shoulders of new manager Roy Hodgeson but following the 1-0 win over Belgium last night, the expections for the nation have once again fallen following the performance that they witnessed yesterday.

England failed to overcome the Belgiums in a manner that showed the sort of winning strength that you would expect to see from a side that are going to have to beat strong European nations such as Germany, Holland and Spain.

Although the performance resulted in yet another close win and a clean sheet for goalkeeping number one Joe Hart of Manchester City, there was more worrying news to come from the fixture, the revelation that central defender Gary Cahill has been told that he will have to withdraw from the Euro’s selection due to a fractured jaw.

In other news, the Premier League may well be over for another season but the work never stops for the managers and Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson looks like he will have a number of choices to make before the new term begins after news that the three targets that he wanted to add to his side are out of his price range.

Ferguson has made no secret of his desire to sign Luka Modric, Leighton Baines and Cheick Tiote as he looks to overcome his city rivals in the upcoming season but with news that he will have to spend £72 million, he will have to look elsewhere as the board fail to give him the financial backing he needs.

Maybe the Man United boss should now turn his attention to Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie who has once again fired out a warning to not only every European side that are taking part in the European Championships but also to his Premier League rivals after hitting a brace of goals in Holland’s demolition of a young looking Northern Ireland.

Van Persie has been on impressive form over the past 12 months and that has made him one of the most high profile strikers in the English game, opening him up to interest from a sea of elite clubs across the world.

With limited time left on his contract, will the European Championships be his chance to be able to secure a move away from Arsenal and a chance to be able to win one of the major domestic football titles or will he show his loyalty for the club in which he has grown and sign a new deal?
